Music in Action

Lockdown music-making!
Have a look at some of the curriculum music-making the children completed independently at home! They listened to a new orchestral piece of music everyday for a week, answered listening and appraising questions and then completed a creative response.
Peripatetic Music Lessons
We have lots of cracking young musicians at The Grove - which keep our peripatetic staff very busy! The children can learn the flute, piano, guitar and ukelele.  Our pianists were kept busy during lockdown - here are some of their performances as part of their zoom lessons with Nicky.
Music Mark!
We are proud holders of a Music Mark award: recognising that we place importance and value on our music teaching! This will allow us to use teaching resources and connect with other schools.
In The Hall of the Mountain King
In KS2 we have learnt about Peer Gynt and particularly, "In The Hall of the Mountain King" by Edvard Grieg. This piece depicts an adventure where Peer is escaping from a Mountain Ogre! We heard the musical ways in which Grieg has created the sound of Peer creeping through the mountain, very quietly using pizzicato strings before having to RUN when the ogre wakes up!
Year 5 Music!
We have been studying some of the BBC ten pieces this year. Here is our work on Benjamin Britten's "Sea Interludes" from "Peter Grimes" we wrote our own graphic scores and performed our compositions, inspired by the sea, to the class.

OUR SENSATIONAL SPACE SYMPHONY

Elfyn, our Musician in Residence, has been visiting The Grove and together a group of Year 5 and 6 people, we have put together this amazing piece of music. Elfyn has combined it with our works of Space Art too.
