Mountain Ash meets the Apprentice!
As part of our Harry Potter topic, we created our very own wizard snacks to sell aboard the Hogwarts Express. We had to research, design and make a snack, create the packaging and brand, and then pitch our ideas to the Ministry of Magic (a vaguely familiar, bearded, Alan Sugar type). We even made our own TV adverts using green screen technology. Watch the award winning offering for Timbles, below!
The budding artists of Mountain Ash created some absolutely fantastic self-portraits using a range of media including water colour, pencil and collage. We took our inspiration from the contemporary English artist Martin O'Neil. Watch out Picasso!
To start the year, spooky stories were the first focus for our writing, We visited town to find mysterious locations to set our tales, used drama to retell the story of poor Therese (who comes back from the dead to haunt her mean father), and we also created eerie settings in forest school.
The Year 6s are also involved with an amazing Forest School Project at Dartington. We've been working with local craftsmen and women, and a range of extremely sharp tools to make green wood products such as coat hooks, key holders and baskets. The children will be selling some of their wares at Totnes market before Christmas so watch this space - you won't want to miss out!
